Hey guys. Just putting up the final touches to my site when I hit this very annoying snag. I have looked around on Google for a solution but so far nothing has come specific enough to answering my question, so... I am going to try here!
It will probably be a quick, easy answer ... my CSS is decent but not all that great.
So, the issue:
I am trying to apply a custom CSS class to the Title, Sub-title, and Date fields of my view; I have several options here including using h1, h2, h3, etc. as the style but I want to create my own custom style... however, when I am prompted to 'create a new CSS class' and enter a name for it, (see picture below: Fig. 1), and go to edit that new class in my CSS to apply the styling I want (Fig. 2), it does not work (however, h1, h2, h3 etc all do.)

Your problem is easy to solve! You've just forgot to put a '.' in front of ctitle in your CSS document. Remember that classes are designated with a '.' and divs a '#' in stylesheets.
